Mom’s Night Out Ministry Idea

Way back in October, I was blessed by attending the Allume blogger’s conference where I was first introduced to the recently premiering, “Mom’s Night Out” movie. I loved hearing the heart of those who are behind this uplifting, real-life, faith-based comedy. I was also privileged to attend a pre-screening of the film in January.

It Is Hilarious!

You’ll laugh, cry, shake your head in agreement, want to hug a mamma friend, and dance all within an hour an a half. There are several profound truths in this for mom’s and minister’s wives alike as we sit in our chaos worrying about our making a difference in our seemingly mundane day-to-day lives.

This has been an exciting time to be a part of the valley church here in Vilonia. With our meeting space being blown off the map, God has physically shown us that He will not be contained to a building and we are privileged to find new and creative ways to minister to the hurting people of our community.

Wither it be working hand in hand with the local school to acquire space for childcare we helped give victims, workers, and volunteers during clean up or the Mom’s Night Out we were just able to offer to the women of towns impacted by the storms, God is bigger than our “box”.

We all know women have to have a good excuse to have a moment to themselves. We have created “Tupperware parties” so we don’t feel guilty for taking a night off. With all that has transpired in my town the past 2 weeks, these poor ladies were Past ready to “unplug”.

As the loving husband. played by Sean Astin, expresses in the movie,

You need to find your  oxygen so you can in turn help others find theirs.

Saturday May 10th, the night before Mother’s Day and premier weekend of MNO, the Valley Church was able to secure the China Town buffet town the sidewalk from the Conway Cinema where we used the back room to offer “pampering” and a free-to-them dinner. For a couple hours we all just enjoyed “no children clawing” at us while we took turns getting our hair, nails, and make-up done by someone else. The ladies were also allowed to choose an item from a boutique that had a rack of clothing available.

We all marched down to the theater together and munched popcorn, snort-laughed, and passed tissue until we all felt like a million buckets before heading how to celebrate being God’s “beautiful masterpiece(s)”.

If this is something your church-body would be willing to do, I guarantee your community would be blessed by it.
